![]() These spaces, which locals call “Lennon Walls,” have sprung up on buildings, walkways, sky bridges, underpasses and storefronts and carry messages like “Hong Kongers love freedom,” “garbage government” and “We demand real universal suffrage.” As a scholar of urban landscapes, I have been interested in how the citizens and activists made use of the urban environment during the movement, including walls of Post-it sticky notes and other creative displays. ![]() It’s bewildering really.īy letting happiness at work happen more often, it creates an environment where people actually enjoy being a part of it.Months of anti-government protests in Hong Kong have physically reshaped the city. It stimulates your thoughts on what you can be happy about no matter what bullshit is happening in your life.Īnd when you and your coworkers share gratitude openly, it creates an upward cycle of positivity that makes everyone happier, more productive, creative and collaborative than before. When you see everyone’s unique comments, thoughts and feelings on all sorts of things in their life that they’re grateful for, you can’t help but do the same thing.
